waYfarer productions
Wayfarer Productions is an arts and media company which has been responsible for many play productions and a number of film projects. Wayfarer Productions was the production company for the film The Walk, about William Wilberforce and the abolition of slavery, co-produced with 1A Productions. The Walk was written and directed by Murray Watts in 2006.
In 2009 the company produced a play about Charles Darwin, which was commissioned for the bicentenary of Darwin’s birth and premiered in Westminster Abbey. Mr. Darwin’s Tree has since toured nationally and internationally, including The Edinburgh Festival, The Cambridge Festival of Ideas, The King’s Head Theatre in London, venues in Beijing, Seoul, Nairobi, Paris, Amsterdam and three tours in the US. Mr. Darwin’s Tree was most recently presented by the Cambridge University Library at The Cambridge Festival in March 2023.
In 2011, Wayfarer Productions put on three new plays at The Edinburgh Festival Fringe in partnership with Edinburgh Playhouse, productions, a trilogy that was then transferred to The King’s Head Theatre in London.
Wayfarer Productions launched the solo version of Fire from Heaven in March 2022 and the production toured the US in February and March 2023.
